Oasis Spa Kamala: Four Hours of Pampering Nearly Broke Me

Hi Traveler, it’s Journey Wilde with Gay Thai Travel, and today we’re talking about the day I voluntarily signed up for four hours of being touched by strangers and somehow still found a way to complain about it.

The place was Oasis Spa, also known as Turquoise Cove Spa, tucked into Kamala on the road locals call Soi Fantasea. You walk through this Chino-Portuguese archway and suddenly you’re not in Phuket anymore, you’re in some Moroccan fever dream with waterfalls and terrazzo bathtubs, like someone asked a five-star Mediterranean resort and a Thai spa to have a baby and that baby grew up Iconic. Ten private villas. An actual herbal steam cave. A pool you could absolutely just lounge by and forget you booked anything at all.

I did not lounge. I booked the Paradise Package. Four hours.

Now where was I. Right, the masochism.

The package starts reasonable enough. Herbal steam or a foot bath to ease you in, then a body scrub that strips a layer of skin you didn’t know you were emotionally attached to. Then an aloe vera lavender wrap, which is the part where you lie there mummified in goo wondering if this is what being a burrito feels like, and somehow it’s relaxing. Then a deep tissue massage that finds every knot you’ve been carrying since 2019. Then, just when you think they’re done with you, a head, back, and shoulder massage shows up like an encore nobody asked for but everybody secretly wanted.

By hour three, gurl, I was full. Spa-satiated. The mango sticky rice and tea they bring you between treatments is genuinely the best part of the whole experience and I will die on that hill, but somewhere around the facial I started doing the math on how much longer I had left and my soul quietly began drafting an exit strategy.

Listen Up, Babes: Four hours of pampering sounds like a flex until you’re ninety minutes past the point of actual relaxation and into the territory of “please stop touching my forehead.” Pacing matters. If it’s your first time at a place like this, start with a two hour package and work your way up. Save the marathon for when you actually have the stamina, because nobody warns you that relaxation has a ceiling.

The staff never once made me feel rushed or like a number, which honestly made the whole “I am so over this” feeling worse, because they were so sweet and so good at their jobs that I felt guilty for fading. My therapist kept asking if the pressure was right, kept the towels warm, kept the whole thing running exactly on schedule. World Class Hospitality, full stop. The shortcoming wasn’t the spa. The shortcoming was me, a man who thinks he can do four hours of bliss back to back without tapping out, the same way he thinks he can do excursions every single day of a trip. Spoiler: he cannot.

Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I book the Paradise Package again? Only if someone else is footing the bill and I’ve cleared my entire afternoon and evening with nothing planned but a nap and silence.

TL;DR Cheatsheet

  • Where: Oasis Spa (Turquoise Cove Spa, Kamala), 71/10 Moo 5, Soi Fantasea, Kamala Beach, Kathu, Phuket
  • Hours: Daily, roughly midday to midnight (book ahead, arrive 15 minutes early)
  • Transport: Free round trip pickup from Patong, Surin, and Kamala, just ask when you book
  • What to get: A two hour massage or the four hands experience for first timers, save the four hour Paradise Package for a day you have nothing else on the calendar
  • Snack alert: Mango sticky rice and tea between treatments. Do not skip it, do not rush it
  • Price range: Higher than your average Kamala massage shop, but the villas, the privacy, and the service justify it

Journey’s Verdict: Oasis Spa is the real deal, a genuine sanctuary dressed up like a Moroccan palace by the sea. Just know your limits, Travel. Even paradise has a point of diminishing returns.
